New cars often come with a manufacturer warranty as standard. Such warranties usually last 3 years (or a set number of miles), although some car makes like Hyundai or Kia now offer much longer coverage. So, if you’re buying a new car, you’ll have that peace of mind from the outset.
But not everyone drives a young car bought from new. An extended RAC car warranty, supplied by MTSS, is designed for those drivers.
It can be a great solution for anyone keeping their car beyond its original cover period. It’s also useful for anyone about to buy a used car. The original manufacturer warranty can’t usually be transferred to a second owner and a used car warranty is sometimes the only way to get peace of mind.
One of the most important reasons to get an RAC warranty, however, is the cost of repairs. If it makes you shudder to think how much a breakdown could cost you, this could be the answer.
Your policy with us is also fully protected and secure; we are directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and use only A rated underwriters protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
UK Call Centres
Excess
Whilst some providers will have a compulsory excess, with RAC Warranty there is never any excess to pay when making a claim, keeping unexpected costs at a minimum.
Age and Mileage
There are no ongoing age or mileage limits during the course of your RAC Warranty. Cover from some providers will cease if your car exceeds their ongoing age or mileage limitations during the course of your cover.
Labour Rate Options
Choice of labour rate to suit your requirements. RAC offer either £60 + VAT or £100 + VAT per hour. Repairs under your RAC Warranty can then be done by any VAT registered garage. We do not insist on specific “authorised repairers” but you can take your car to a RAC Approved garage near you if you wish.
Extras
With RAC Warranty will cover the cost of roadside recovery, onward travel expenses or overnight hotel stay. The best news is that all of these extra features are included as standard – at no extra cost!
Claim Limit
The maximum you can claim under the RAC Warranty is equivalent to the market value of your vehicle, according to motor trade guides such as Glass’s, CAP and Parkers.
European Cover
Cover for up to 60 days in the EEA, in a 12 month time period, if your car suffers a mechanical or electrical failure whilst you are travelling abroad.
No Pre-inspection
Unlike other online providers our warranty is insurance-based - this means that no pre-inspection is required before your car can be protected!
Transfer of Cover
With some warranties your cover ends if you sell your car. With RAC Warranty you can either transfer the cover to the new owner of the car within 14 days of the sale, subject to the new owner being eligible for cover. Alternatively you can cancel the policy and obtain a pro rata refund based on the number of full unexpired months remaining, less the cost of any accepted claim. Please note that these options incur a £25 + VAT administration fee.
Trusted Brand
The RAC needs no introduction, as they're one of the most recognisable brand in the UK with more than 8 million members. 5 Star Rated by Defaqto, a Trustpilot Trustscore of 9.7 out of 10 and recommended by numerous well-known companies like What Car? Pistonheads and Autocar.
Direct Debit
Buying a car isn’t cheap; the cost can seem never ending sometimes. This is why RAC offer you the facility of protecting your car the affordable way. You’re covered as soon as you buy your Warranty, either online or from one of our advisors over the phone, but you can spread the cost by Direct Debit over 10 months.
A rated Underwriters
RAC Warranty is an insurance-based product. Our underwriters are London General Insurance Company Limited, an A rated underwriter. We are fully authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and your policy is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Diagnostics
With RAC Premium Plus Warranty you’re covered up to £50.00 including VAT towards the cost of diagnostics.
Wear and Tear
With RAC Premium Plus Warranty you will be covered for components which fail as a result of wear and tear.
Consequential Damage
If the mechanical failure of one part leads to the failure of another, it is most often the case that most warranty providers will list consequential damage on their list of exclusions from cover. Limited to replacement of drive belts, filters, lubricants, antifreeze and fluids required because of the failure of a covered component, and if such breakdown causes damage to another covered component we will repair or replace that covered component but not any damage which is cosmetic in nature. RAC Warranty covers parts which need to be repaired or replaced due to the failure of a separate part, as standard.
Betterment
Your RAC Warranty does not include any betterment clauses. We simply repair the faulty part and pay your chosen VAT registered repairer directly for the full cost of the repair. Other warranty cover often includes a betterment clause. This means that if your car is repaired to an extent to which it might be deemed to be better or more valuable than it was before the repair was carried out, you could be liable to make a contribution towards the cost of that repair.
